Strange Diamondback serial #

Hi, new member here. Nice forum. Have been looking in proofhouse and RL Wilson's book for the serial # / date of manufacture with no luck. The Diamondback has a serial of P357xx. Can't find any "P" prefix's anywhere. Maybe call Colt? Thanks for any replies.

P357xx was made in 1981.
The "P" series number range began that year and started at P01001.
1982 began at P36850.

That's a lot of Diamondback revolvers in one year.

dfariswheel, Confused me that the "N" and "R" prefix were 1977 and 1978 respectively. Was beginning to think that the P was incorrectly stamped. Thanks again.
