storm im3100 vs. Pelican 7100

Doesn't matter really. The Storm is a little bigger (which may be a good or bad thing) and probably a few bucks cheaper. The .mil uses both and they both do what they're supposed to do.

Every Pelican I have ever seen has metal surrounds on the hasps

Storms I have seen might...or might not

I also prefer the clasps on the Pelican. But I think the Storm's Vortex purge valve might be superior- not that the Pelican valve is junk

I have the Stormcase and I couldn't be happier. Mine is the double rifle version with the 2 layers of foam and then a solid top layer. Weighing in at around 19 pounds empty, it's a tough case. I paid $180 total for mine. Also made in the USA.

I checked out the Pelican, and the only thing I thought it had more of than the Stormcase was a bigger price tag for a cheaper product.

Get the Stormcase! You won't regret it.

thanks anyone have a link for one with foam for a good price?

Be careful buying foam. There's many types out there. The one you want is probably closed cell polyethylene. It takes centuries to break down and will not melt or react with gun solvents or oils

Some foams will react with them

Personally, after shipping lots of US military equipment in Pelican and Storm cases, I find the Pelicans don't break as often as Storms, as in 'split case'. But then again, I read a report on a failure from a USMC unit that read "Case looks as if FEDEX performed combat offload training with shipment", so anything would probably get broken under those circumstances

Both cases are good products
