storing pumps

I always stored mine closed... granted it was never for more than a month at a time. Make sure it's lubricated properly and you shouldn't have any problems.

It won't hurt to release the firing pin before storage. Doing it only on rare occasions is okay, although others do it more often as dry-fire practice and have no problems. Using a snap-cap in the chamber is a better idea, though.

Could someone please explain what it means to "store a pump gun cocked"? I just store mine with the action closed. What's the difference? Thanks.

He means that that he doesn't pull the trigger to lower the hammer.

He stores his gun with the action closed, and the internal hammer still cocked.
