Storing a o/u shotgun

I have an 12 Ga. Alcione SL Sport shotgun, should it be stored cocked or uncocked?

I dont get to shoot nearly as much as i like, so I get to shoot about once every 3 months, so it spends extended time in whatever state it is left in.

currently I store it broken in the case. I believe in this state it is cocked. I dont have an appropriate place to store it in one piece, so I cant put snap caps in it and leave it fired.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

I have a Browning Citori that I store broken in two. What I do is firmly hold a small wooden block against the action face and fire off both triggers.

Put the snap caps in, unload the triggers (fire them) and take the forend off BEFORE opening the gun. When you open it after taking the forarm off the triggers should stay in the relaxed state, and you can take your snapcaps out easily.
