Hello!

<http://www.stoneypoint.com/knobs.htm>

These would be used for a Leupold (#45257) Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 --or is it better to simply buy the same Leupold with target knobs (#45266) already on it?

The total cost is about the same and I thought having the option of "regular" knobs and target knobs would be nice --especially since the Leupold website says that there is no other difference between the two models other than the knobs.

Thanks!

Hey Mel,

I have a set of them on a Simmons 4x12x44 44MAG scope that's mounted on my 20" flattop AR15. I like them quite much, they make it easy to make exact adjustments from zero and return back to where I started. They are made well and worth the money. Midawyusa has them for $49.99 at www.midwayusa.com Here's a pic of my setup:

I thought about getting them for my Simmons Whitetail Classic 6-20X50mm that I have mounted on my Bushy Shorty, but since I only paid $97 for the scope, I just couldn't see the $50 for knobs. The knobs don't change the number of clics per inch; they just mean you don't have to use a coin to adjust the elevation and windage.

Hi

I have both the Leupold Target Turrets and Stoney Point knobs on different scopes. I much prefer the Stoney Point knobs as you don't have to remove the caps as on the Leupold ( I know you can leave them off) and they are quite a bit shorter than the really tall turrets that the factory puts on.

One nice thing about the SP knobs. If you put them on a less expensive scope and the scope give out, you can take the knobs on the next scope.

Hola, cyber-dudes!

--thanks Steve, Walter, and Speedy for the replies!

I ended up getting the regular knobs and Stoney Points instead of the target knobs, thinking that

1) They looked ultra-hip (!) in Steve's photo;

2) The Leupold target knobs are too tall and seem like they would get in the way, whereas the Stoney Points are more compact;

3) Although the dust covers could be left off all of the time, I read somewhere (don't remember where and no idea if it's even true) that the O-ring (?) seal at the knobs are not that good (anyone really know?) and given how the Stoney Points thread-on, they are, in a sense, "adjustable" dust covers;

4) Lastly, I just don't like fiddling with those damned (!) dust covers, ha-ha!

Thanks for the assist.

Mel
