Stoeger SxS questions

I was in a shop recently and they had a Stoeger SXS 12 ga w/ 26" bbls, screw in chokes, new.

It was a short, light, handy set up. I've been pondering a double for a late season, lightweight turkey gun. I know an overunder makes more sense but........... a SXS seems so classic.

Anyhow, what is everybody's experience w/ the Stoeger doubles, esp the SXS's. Are they well regulated? Several fellows in my area have bought the overunders as starter guns for youth/trap, and they have been shot quite a bit and seem to have held up well.

No way to tell I guess, until patterned, but as a turkey gun, it needs to print at point of aim. Can't seem to find a Savage 311 that is not a train wreck.

Maybe yes, maybe no and no way to tell until you shoot it. Stoeger is the bottom of the Beretta family group in terms of price and quality. Maybe yours will be good, then again maybe not - it really is hit and miss. They are not built for longevity with heavy use
 
BR, Do you use little normal shells or big ol' 3-3.5 inch stuff? I know my new-2-me 5100/311 savage 20 with 20 inch barrels is only 5.85 pounds... I have not tried to shoot more than 2 rounds of 2 3/4 inch regular slugs (just makin' sure barrels are regulated tight enuff to slug a deer from either barrel) at a time... but I know I would be "pullin" the shot by number 4 for sure... That light gun enjoys sadistic tendencies...

I wouldn't even consider 2 rounds of 3 inch slugs back to back!

I used a Stoeger Coach Gun for SAS and for dove and squirrel hunting. I'd guess in about 11 years I put about 3,500 shells through the gun. Finally the barrels seperated from the chambers. I did not consider it repairable. 95% of the shells I fired through it were Remington Heavy Dove Loads.

That's just over three hundred shells a year, correct? I don't shoot as much as Oneounce but even I shoot a hundred or two per week. The point being that the Stoeger didn't last, not repairable after what would be less than a year's shooting for me.
I do own a Stoeger SXS - a little .410 that is great fun to shoot. It gets used lightly compared to my Trap gun.

As far as regulation of a SXS shotgun, you will have the very same problems as the double rifle shooters do. they are regulated to a specific load. Your shotgun would also be regulated to a specific load, if you are talking about point of impact shifts measured by inches.
