I picked up a Stoger 9c $299. 5 MONTHS AGO. It is true it looks like a Glock, but better. I have read that the patents ran out. One of the reason it looks like a glock. The funtion of the pistol is a good or even better, then a glock.

What brands does Stoeger own?
The parent company; Beretta Holding, also owns Beretta, Benelli, Franchi, SAKO, Stoeger, Tikka, Uberti, the Burris Optics company and recently acquired Steiner. The Beretta Company was established in 1526, by gunsmith Maestro Bartolomeo Beretta and is the oldest gun manufacturer in the world.

Glock's original patents no more

Glock's original patents have expired because patents are only valid for 17 years. The Austrian Glock 17 was released in 1985, and Gaston Glock has more than 50 patents since 1953. The Glock pistol has never been covered by a single patent, but various design aspects have been. As a result, anyone can now manufacture and sell complete clones of the entire pistol, not just the slides.

These STR-9SC things are $229 at Palmetto State Armory today, and Stoeger has a $50 check-in-the-mail rebate right now. That's $180 (plus shipping/TTL).

Ran across this thread trying to talk myself out of buying one, just because! :D Here are a couple of reviews that might be of interest, as wellx as a link to the PSA daily deal referenced above:
