Stoeger Luger 22cal - Erma Luger 380cal

I have had one of these since the mid 80's. The first was used, then after a botched repair, Stoeger sent me a new one.

I really love to plink and do target with this pistol. Easy to hold. Easy to score well.

I did order the checkered grips back then and they feel alot better than the smooth ones.

I have had very few jams over all these years. Maybe 3-4 due to bad feeds.

I -have- had issues with the thing locking up. This is due to a small part that lays alongside the sear area and shifts sideways. If there is interest, I will post some Jpgs with the repair. A small piece of copper wire does the trick quite nicely.

Erma made a downsized Luger in 22cal and 380cal. I have the 380. Fun little guy. I do have a problem when the last round is fired, the toggle stays up but when you release the clip, it slams down. I sense a small catch that holds the toggle open was not hardened enough/

Another fun one to shoot. Also no jams that I remember.

I did pick up a second firing pin as back then, it was rumoured they would break easily.

I also have manuals for both. If interest, I will post each of them.

Welcome to the board. I have one of the Stoegers that I bought from Kmart in 1970 or so. I carried it as my only protection during college then my nomadic days. Still have the holster that came with it but lost the spare mag and loading tool. I'd certainly appreciate the manual.

The Stoeger gun was not too bad a pistol, but looks very little like an original Parabellum pistol. Stoeger owns the rights to the "Luger" name, so it is a "Luger" legally, though.

The little Erma looks more like the original Parabellum, but was made to a price point and not especially well. They don't seem to hold up very well, though there are always exceptions.

A Stoeger was my first pistol. Loved it though it jammed a lot. Replaced it about 5 years ago. It works fine as long as you don't try to feed it Remington ammo.

I had the little Erma and it was a cute little dude. That was along time agoand I seem to remeber the toggle staying back. Have you tried a different magazine? My Erma EXP 22 (PPk look alike) stays back after the last round.

Although I've never owned a Stoeger .22 Luger, a common thread in past discussions online and with former owners is that they jam constantly.

McBuster, it sounds as though you got a good one! :)

They did have jamming issues..as a lot of guns during that time...But finding the 22 round that works for it...CCI min Mags work in all pistols.

I don't recall seeing any CCI min Mags at the one hardware store in the Texas border town I grew up in the late 60s - early 70s.

Never owned or shot a Stoeger but did buy a pair of the Ermas many years ago. The .380 was a jam-o-matic so it didn't stay long but the .22 is still with me fun to shoot and it likes standard velocity ammunition just fine. Also ran across a P-38 lookalike American Arms P98 in .22 rimfire. It likes the mini Mags better than the standard vel. both are a lot of fun to shoot.
