Yes.
I'd guess at least 25,000rds. Call Stoeger or Beretta and ask.
Yes.

You should try using search and google. There's a ton of Cougar threads and info available on this and many other sites.

"extended use" is the key there. Any gun is going to wear faster than normal if it's fed a steady diet of overpressure ammunition.

Russ, is there even such a thing as +P or +P+ rounds in the .40 S&W?

The pressure of the standard .40 is in the range of +P in other calibers. And there are "official" standards that define +P for only a few different calibers. The .40 is not one of them.

Sounds like a lawyer generated CYA statement to me.

Who will shoot lots of +P 9mm rounds in his Cougar. It's sturdy!

thanks guys for your info...........actually i just wanted to have the idea about the fitness of this gun, if by chance i have to use +p ammo..........

@WC145 thanks for ur inputs........

by the way yes if used normally i dont think if its going to wear out that easily..........but yes a constant dose of +p ammo will do the job of wearing much fater........

+P and +P+ is refering to the 9mm, NOT 40 S&W. A Cougar 9mm will be fine shooting it. There is no such thing as 40 S&W +P or +P+.

So no need to worry.

+1 ben..........40 S&W is already a heavy and powerful round and there is no such thing as a +p or +p+ types in it.........:)

..........GUYS..........

i guess we are deviating from the topic here...........the thread is to gather infor about the stoeger cougar and the its barrel life and the usage of +p ammo in it.............:)

I have about 6000 rounds through my 9mm. I practice with standard ball ammo, but on those occasions I carry, I use plus p. I have no doubt this pistol will go more rounds than I will ever shoot it

Only one caveat about the Cougar.... just FYI. Make sure to keep it lubed, with some lube on the barrel lugs. They don't like to run dry.

Do that and your Cougar should run well for many many thousands of rounds....with whatever ammo you feed it.

I generally only shoot std pressure 115 gr at the range, but to test reliability I ran two boxes of Gold Dot 124 +p thru before using it as carry ammo. No problems.
