Stoeger Condor

I just purchased new condor and after dry firing(empty chambers) it several times, I noticed that the safety resets to the 'on' positiion after firing the first barrel.

Is this happening because the chambers are empty or do I have a mechanical issue? I figured I'd ask to save myself a live fire session, in turn saving myself the trouble of having to clean the damn thing before returning it.

Actually after initially pulling the trigger, the safety remains in the off position, I have to move the safety to on and then back to off to get the second barrel to dry fire.

If your gun has inertia triggers, the recoil from the first shot is what sets the second, so either moving the barrel selector or bumping the butt pad on your hand or the ground will do the same thing. What does your owner's manual say about it? It should be an automatic safety that gets reset when you open the barrels to reload, but once you click it off for firing, you should be able to fire both shots. Read the manual, clean the gun, go shoot it and see if it is working fine

I just pulled mine out, took of the safety, pulled the trigger twice and got two clicks with no movement of the safety. That's exactly how it works when loaded. Mine is a 2000 model so the newer ones may be different. Take out two shells see what happens, that's the only way you'll know for sure on yours. I believe it does have an inertia trigger, but I'm not 100%.

I did as suggested and bumped the butt-plate against the floor after pulling the trigger. Second pull of the trigger went off fine with no manipulation of the safety necessary.

Thanks for the info all, much appreciated:)
