Stoeger Condor Shotgun at Gun Show

I found a Stoeger Condor O/U 12 gauge shotgun at the local gun show yesterday. The dealer was wanting $350 out the door he would cover taxes and background check. Was this a good deal? This was a used gun and I looked up what little I could about the gun and the used Condor Specials (upgraded gun) were going for roughly 350-400 on the online auction sites.

Second question is, is the Stoeger Condor worth buying or should I just save and buy a quality O/U like a Browning? The gun felt like good quality, the action was a little stiff to close but I would think it would wear in just fine with time. I am wanting to get a O/U shotgun that I can change chokes in because I enjoy casually competing and participating in local Skeet/Trap shoots. My reloads for my Winchester 1300 Pump have been starting to jam on doubles and it is just a real pain in the can to pick up empty shells after a while. I do not want to spend a lot on a nice gun at this point in my life just becuase of finances (college student). On the other hand, I do not want to buy junk that I will be replacing after 1-2 seasons of shooting and 1000 shells.

Stoeger Condors are priced at $329 regularly at Sports Authority or their equivalents. I bought one on sale for $288.

They are good starter guns to keep you going until you save up for the Browning.

I did some pricing at the local two gun stores today and found that the more upscale Stoeger Condor Supreme was 349 before tax and background check. Hmm brand new higher grade gun for about 30-40 dollars more? I guess I know what I will do. From what I can tell the Stoeger is made by Benelli. Speaks volumes to me.

Try to get a Lanber if you can. Fantastic approval rating. Gunsmiths own them. $1485 MSRP and They are selling them in the $500 plus range. I paid $580 and I got a #2097 Lanber. I will post the web site when I find it. This statement is from another forum:

Something I forgot to mention in my last post. Does anyone know what the suggested retail for teh 2097 is? I found it in a book of current target guns...

$1485

I certianly didn't pay that much, and it only makes me happer to have this gun...

I ordered mine from Abilene, Tx-- CDNN Sports--- P.O. Box 6514 • Abilene, Texas 79608 • Telephone 800-588-9500 • Fax 325-695-4898

My condor is OK.
Fit/finish acceptable, except it bites me HORRIBLY where it pivots.
It never bit me the first year, it just started doing it a few years ago.
With full/full chokes it's a bird slaying machine. (If you can hit.)

Oletymer,
The Stoeger is made by Benelli and they are made in Brazil, not Turkey. A good friend of mine has one and is pretty happy with it. Seems to be a pretty good gun if you're on a budget.
