I bought a Remington 700 ADL "Youth" model in .308 as a deer rifle. The reason I bought the youth gun is I wanted a shorter barrel and didn't want to spend the money for a Model Seven which has/had a 18 1/2 inch barrel in a blue gun. So I bought the more robust 700 action with a 20 inch tube. However, now I'm thinking I don't like the plastic stock which make noise if a twig should snap against it going through the thick Maine woods, also,it is short for me. Can anyone recommend a good but not too expensive after market "drop in stock"? Should I go with a laminated wood?,or should I just keep the plastic stock on it and not worry about it. I did fill the hollow end of butt stock with small plastic mini beads so as not to have it echo it's hollow plastic song. I must say, rifle is compact as is,but...Thanks for help.
