Stock-Forearm Fitting

Well I'm a sucker for abuse. I've not done much wood work on any of my firearms but have decided to tackle getting some new wood onto one of my 1885 Winchesters.

My question has to do with the ebony insert. I am assuming it is glued in place? If so what type of glue?

I just use epoxy and clamp it well. I usually use AcraGlass, but any good quality epoxy will hold it in place.
 
There are just as many choices on wood glue as there is oil for metal. Yes, this has to be glued and "Lately" I have been using Tite-Bond III. It works kind like elmers but it's waterproof. You might also go to this sight and see all they provide. The poly glues like Gorilla are good but messy and you have to keep an eye on them as they bubble up and make a mess. Recentlly had a buttstock and forend to repair. On the fresh cracks, i used the Tite-Bond-III and on the older and dirtier cracks, I used the Gorilla. You have an outstanding project there. .. :)
