Stock finish/sealing

I recently bought a CZ527 American with the maple stock on it. These rifles are supposed to be free-floated, but in a couple locations my stock rubs the barrel a little bit. I'm in the careful process of removing the necessary material, but I'm curious what I should use to seal the wood again once I'm done. Does anyone have any idea what might be used from the factory or what I could put on it? I'd rather not use anything that will turn the wood darker. Does linseed oil change the wood's color at all?

I used Birchwoord Casey Tru Oil to seal my floated 452. A couple coats didn't change the color at all and sealed it with aplastic like film that soaks into the grain.
