J jmr40 New member Mar 16, 2012 #2 A short action will work, but you need to specify 1 piece bottom metal or 2 piece. Most of the older guns made in New Haven are 2 piece. Newer guns made in South Carolina are 1 piece. It is possible to make either stock work with a little tweaking.
