stippling a compsite grip...

I usually hose my guns down with WD40 after shooting and clean then later, this causes the skate board tape to loosen up on my competition STI pistol. What I want to do is stipple the back left side of the grip. I'm thinking the best way is to sand the area down a little (get rid of the non-effective smooth "checkering"), then use a heated nail to dimple that area enough to get a permanent textured grip. Anybody done this? What do you think? Thanks in advance. rct40

rct40, that sounds like it would work. I've never stippled a plastic grip. George

Try useing a common pencil-tip soldering iron. Your hands will appreciate it. Dem nails get HOT!
