Stipping blue

I have a few mags I am going to get hard chromed. I do not like the blue. It resembles black paint, and the mags don't always drop free. What product is there I can buy so I can just drop them in and let them eat the paint?

I assume this won't hurt the metal?

Or is there some simple cheap Home Depot alternative???

Naval Jelly(tm) will remove bluing.

PVerdieck,

If they are blued, Brownells sells a blue remover that works great. If they are painted, I would think any hardware store paint remover should do the trick.

Good Luck...

Birchwood Casey makes a Blue & Rust remover that works well for removing blue and can usually be found in your local Wal-Mart. If you use be cautious about where and how you store it. It is very castic.
