Sticking grip safety on 1911

On a brand-new Colt Government Model, why would the grip safety stick in the inward position when the hammer is cocked or at half-cock, but function correctly when the hammer is down?

Is this something that's likely to go away as the gun wears in?

TIA.

grip safety

Dear Sir:
Your grip safety needs refit. The spring could be not out enough - rough tab, binding in trigger bow.

I agree with Harry. I have seen a few sear springs that just needed the arm for the grip safety bent for more pressure on the grip safety.

You've got to real careful installing the spring. Part of the spring might caught I believe ,behind the leafs of the spring. If it`s a colt grip safety It should fit. The trigger bar must remain free & outside of the grip safety . A grip safety can be carefully installed with .030 is the maximum to mill off the grip safety . I however wouldn`t take that much off. My feeling is that you haven`t got the safety spring correctly. IMHO Chas.
