Hello. I'm considering purchasing one of these in .38 Super or 9x23. The gun's not offered in these calibers except from their Custom Shop.
I know that Dane Burns and many recommend the 9x23 and I have no problems with that at all, but likely wouldn't shoot the hottest possible handloaded 9x23 except when varmint hunting.
Yet, for the size game I'd shoot at with this pistol, .38 Super or even hot loaded 9mm would be adequate for sure. The gun is offered standard in 9mm and since much of my shooting would be range work, perhaps 9mm is the way to go? I kind of balk at that as I have many, many 9mm pistols already so I'm looking at the somewhat peppier rounds.
I've heard that "rim lock" can occur with the Super and while I admit only having owned one .38 Super in my life, I never experienced anything like that. Is it all that common or is it something that can happen, but rarely does?
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Best.
