Steyr trigger upgrade

I sent in my Steyr M9 for the upgrade. I should get it back by the end of this week.
My pistol was a 6xxx serial #. My trigger felt very heavy and everyone that tried said they hated the trigger. If it were a true 5 lb. trigger like advertised, I think I'd have been very happy. I have hope and faith that this pistol will become one of the great ones. Only time will tell. Has anyone out there had the upgrade? How did it feel and shoot? Thanks

I almost bought one of the Steyrs, but the trigger situation kept me from doing it just yet. I want to see how these pistols turn out once they get the bugs out. I bought a Glock 23 instead. I still haven't had a chance to go out and fire it (working 80 hours a week - that's how I could afford the Glock :) ). I hope your Steyr turns out o.k. If they're offering the trigger job, then they must know how to fix the problem. Steyr , of course, has a great name. Good shooting.

Just wanted to bump this to the top as I am very curious as well if anyone has had the upgrade performed, and how the new trigger feels...

Got my pistol back Wednesday. I am extremely
impressed with GSI's cutomer service, it is second to none. I sent out my pistol on Thursday of last week and recieved it on Wednesday of this week. That's less than five business day turnaround.
The pistol's trigger does feel noticeably lighter. It still has that abrupt break but feels lighter. I am taking it out this Saturday. I shoot in a practical style shooting club. We'll see how it performs.
The first time out it had two failures in the first 100 round. I am hoping these were break in failures. The pistol failed to fully lock up on both ocassions. After field stripping the pistol I realized that the pistol was completely dry. This may have
had some adverse effects on the lock up. The
Steyr, unlike most other pistols, uses the rounds in the mag as well as the mag itself to effect a tighter lockup. There are 2 rails inside the slide that apparently make contact with the rounds to create a tighter lockup. The mag follower has a wider than normal surface area that I think also makes contact with the inside of the slide. I think the Steyr is a well thought out pistol
that will take some getting used to. After all, most people don't like change. I do.
I believe that everything can be improved.
This belief sytem is what fosters progress in every field. Imagine if every designer, engineer and scientist,etc.. woke up one morning and said, "This design is perfect no need to do anything else."

wirenut, thanks for the feedback. I would REALLY like to shoot one of the new triggers before I make a purchase decision, but it does not look like I will be able to talk my range into sending their rental in, so I guess I'll hold off.
