Steyr Scout: best price?

Guys,

Think I might give up on my search for a 1911 and just by a scout. Where can I get the best price for the "cooper" package?

Do you have to have the "Cooper Package?" I'm sure that you can buy the Scout, some rings, and an appropriate scope for much less than the "package" price. Check out CDNN for the Scout, I believe that they're $1500 right now, and check out SWFA for the scope.

Steve, it isn't that simple. The rail on the Scout is NOT milspec so ARMS, Leupold QRW, Badger or similar mounts will not work. There are only two choices: Steyr rings at 200+ bucks or Talley's new rings at about 100. The other thing is this, the Steyr rings are the most difficult to mount I have seen. You literally have to glue the scope in the rings, let it dry, then secure the screws. The Talleys are excellent and Steyr endorses them. I am using a set on my Scout now. If you add the cost of the Turner sling, hard case, Steyr rings and Leupold optic, the difference in price is small and probably not worth the aggravation IMHO. CDNN is probably the best place to start on the package. Rob
