Has anyone tried the Steyr S9? How does it compare in size to the M9? Is it reliable? I know there are not a lot out there but I'm hoping someone on this forum has some knowledge of it.
Had it for about a month. Shot about 50-75 rounds through it. It, like the M357 I had for about 2 months, had some failures to feed/extract in the first 50 rounds, but both worked reliably after that. The S9 is definitely a nicer size, about 20% smaller.
But, I wasn't that enamoured with them, so I sold/traded them. Got a new P7 and Walther P88.
Trigger was nice, but took a little getting used to. Accuracy was "okay", but nothing I was that impressed with. I shoot some of my other guns better.
It's one of those guns that you really need to shoot if you can before you buy. Fortunately, I didn't lose any money on either of them. It's nice when you can do that .
I talked to the guys at GSI (the Steyr Importer) and they said that after Steyr works out the issues with their recent sale (they where just sold) that they will resume shipments to the US.
By that time I wonder if the M45 will be available (if we're real lucky, maybe Steyr will make an S45 )
Hey Oleg, there's several M40s for sale on Gunbroker (one for $399!). I recomend you get your hands on one to tide yourself over 'til the S40s are available (plus I'd like to see you use an M40 in some of your cool photos...I'm needin' new wallpaper )
I´ve got since June 2001 and more than 2500 Rounds with UMC 180 G FMJ and also Corbon 135 G FMJ . No Problems at all ! .
It is a very reliable gun for Backup .
