Steyr rifles

Gun dealer tells me Steyr will no longer sell rifles in the US. Normally this dealer is a reliable source of information and doesn't tell stories to hype sales.

Anybody else heard this?
 
I would seriously doubt that this is true. From what I hear the are no longer making the SSG series. Their so-called assult rifles are already banned. As far as I know they will still be producing and selling the SBS series in the U.S.
 
Time always sorts-out fact from rumor. No doubt Steyr products are still available now.

Really I would have been more inclined to believe they were pulling out of the handgun business.

Business conditions being generally poor and the legal environment always troubling, I wouldn't be surprised at anything.

is the importer for Steyr to the US and they don't say anything on their web site about not selling Steyr's in the US.

They are discontinuing some calibers though.

Has this dealer ever ordered anything from GSI before? I know when I got my Steyr Scout I had to provide phone & fax number, of GSI, and be very annoying to get anyone to order it for me.
