You are going to get a recommendation for every .22 pistol out there,,,
You are going to get a recommendation for every .22 pistol out there,,,
So I might as well add my 2-cents worth.
I recommend the
Ruger SR-22,,,
It is Double Action/Single Action,,,
With external hammer and de-cocker.
I feel these features make for the most versatile firearm.
With striker fired or internal hammer pistols,,,
Once you chamber a round the gun is cocked,,,
You will have to rely solely on the manual safety.
There is no way to un-cock the pistol.
That's my only complaint about the S&W M&P Compact,,,
I have friends who own the S&W and it's a fine performing pistol.
I simply prefer the other type.
With the SR-22 you can chamber a round,,,
Then manually lower the hammer or use the de-cocker.
The DA action means to fire the now de-cocked pistol,,,
You simply pull the trigger which cocks and fires it.
You will have people who agree with me,,,
And you will hear from some who poo-poo my thoughts.
Just tossing this out there.
Oh, Kel Tec just announced a brand new .22 pistol,,,
The new
Kel Tec P17 has a 16 round magazine capacity,,,
And it comes with
three magazines which is absolutely unheard of.
The pistol has ambidextrous safety and mag release,,,
All for an advertised MSRP of $199.00.
This might be the entry level pistol you are looking for,,,
My only gripe is that it is either striker fired,,,
Or has an internal hammer.
Like I said before,,,
There's nothing wrong with this style of gun,,,
I just happen to prefer the other type like the Ruger SR-22.
Hope this helps.
