Steyr m40 ejection problems?

Are current dealer sold m40's already modified by Steyr to prevent the dinging from brass ejection? Is anybody aware of a specific serial number after which changes have been made? I plan on purchasing one shortly but would rather not rely on someone trying to make a sale.
 
I called GSI but was unable to get a serial number. Must be a marketing thing :) Someone on the net mentioned that over 3000 might be the lucky number. Someone else on this net has an over 3000 serial number and said he would let us know how it shoots.

I'm hoping to get my 16xx M40 back within a week, with the tapered ejector port fix. I'll let you know how it shoots. If my fixed M40 is OK, I'd say don't worry about the serial number and just buy one. If you have dinging problems, send it in for a quick two week fix :)
