Unfortunately, it would be regulate here asa "short-barreled rifle", subject to registration and a tax ($5). That means Steyr is unlikely to import the device.

Which makes your pistol NFA and you need to pay $200 transfer tax.

Does anyone find this a little silly?

Sorry, $5 is only "all other weapon", this is now a "short barreled rifle".
