Stevens stock

try an epoxy or other bedding material that is resin based. you will need a lot of release agent on the barrel to make sure you don't have a permanently attached action/barrel. Also use a couple layers of wax paper between the barrel and the stock, that way it free floats it a bit. you will only want the action and the portion of the barrel that has the chamber touching the stock and the bedding/epoxy. I did this on a hogue stock for a 10/22 and it fixed the issues of the forend flexing and touching the barrel and throwing off the groups out of the factory barrel.
