Stevens Model 5100

So I have a chance to aquire a stevens 5100. The problem is that the case hardened steel is tarnished real bad. What is the best way to clean and restore case hardened steel? My plans are to restore it back to new with a new stock and all. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on how the case colors were done - acid or bone-charcoal.
