Stevens model 10 target

I have one and would like to know how many were made. Mine is sn# 7545.
It looks rough but shoots good. I'm not much for restoring old guns but this may be one of those projects that just needs done for the enjoyment of dooing it. All good info is wanted on this single shot pistol and thank you for it.

Mine is 8111, so the "approximately" 7000 is pretty approximate.

One oddity of that gun is that at first glance it looks like a semi-auto pistol. At second glance, it looks like it is striker fired. It isn't a semi-auto, and the knob at the back isn't attached to a striker but is linked to an internal hammer.

They were pretty well thought of, but like the S&W straight line, Colt Camp Perry and others, they came along toward the end of the era of the single shot target pistol. Target shooters found that revolvers and auto pistols had become just as accurate and could be used in all the stages while the single shot was limited to slow fire. Ultimately, the depression did them in, but they make fine collectors pistols today and still shoot well for those who have no problems firing collectors' items.

Good assement. Yours is the first I'v heard of over the 8000 mark. My friend has one that is below 2000 and on top of the bbl it reads "Pat.applied for". When I first saw his I didn't know what to think. After shooting it I thought I got to have one. This one came up at an auction from a comrad who has went where he don't need guns anymore. I started the bidding at $25 and ended it at $200 so it's mine. I like it but just want to know more about them.

After going thru my grandfathers firearms I came by one of these gems. I had heard figures of about 7000 made, but am interested to hear about #'s into 8000. The one I have is #2933 and find them to be going for around $350 to $400 so to have won yours for $200 is a great deal. This is a very fun range gun, if choosen to fire. This pistol can put five shots in a one inch target from 100 yrds from a skilled marksman (not me). I am considering putting a new grip on it but fear to take away from its original feel and worth. Has anyone found a forum?

Does anyone have, know someone who has, know where to obtain a schematic or breakdown or can post a schematic of the Stevens Model 10?
has anyone ever taken apart a Model 10?
