Anyone ever have a .22 cal. Stevens Favorite?
Great gun and it is affordable to anyone.
Ihave put alot of rounds through it and it is still like new. Sometimes simple is better.

Yeah, I held the diminutive li'l single-shot in my hot hands during a Friends of the NRA auction. I entered the drawing for that rifle hoping to win it for my newborn daughter. I didn't so I intercepted and saved a Chipmunk at a gun buy back held by a local gun grabbing County Supervisor.

I've not used an original but I did convince my wife to get me a Savage 30G (based on the Stevens) for Christmas. It's a hoot! It's more accurate than I am and a joy to carry in the woods all day.

is there any way to mount a scope on a favorite?

I've got an old one with an octagonal barrel. Bought it for $25 in pretty rough shape several years ago. It's cleaned up pretty well and is a joy to shoot.

DZ,
You could drill and tap the receiver, but I don't think I would on an original.

But wouldn't a Leupold Mark IV M3 mil-dot scope work well for this venerable little gun? More seriously, if the stock were longer, a fold down tang sight would be nifty.

The original Favorites were drilled and tapped for tang sights. I have one that looks really fine that came from the estate of one of my great-uncles. Someday I'm going to have the barrel relined as it is really corroded from the old corrosive ammo and improper(or maybe *no*)cleaning, but it looks fine on the outside! Nice little gun, especially for teaching kids.

DZ. Yes there is a way to mount a scope. Check out any gunsmith for a black anodized aluminum deal that can have holes drilled into it and by drilling and tapping your rifle, it can be used to mount a tip-off type scope to your rifle. It can be cut to any length you need to mount the scope. It's been years since I worked for a gunsmith, but I remember him mounting scopes on S/S .22's with that stuff. Sorry I don't recall what it was called.

of course there is also:
1885_rimfire_highgrade_m.jpg

A unique opportunity to own one of the most acclaimed of all single shots. The classic Low Wall Winchester in .22
Long Rifle caliber. Its trim stock design, half octagon/half round barrel and special chamber dimensions
contribute to exceptional accuracy. Drilled and tapped for scope mounts or tang-mounted peep (available
separately). Limited to 2,400 Grade I and 1,100 High Grade rifles. Very small numbers of this limited run remain.
