Stevens 512 O/U

I have a Stevens 512 O/U 20ga. with a crusty trigger pull. I have discovered during a dry firing test, if I initially open the action that cocks the hammer then reopen the action again with out pulling the trigger, (hammers still cocked), then reclosing the action again, causes the sear to inconstantly release the hammers to fire the gun. Sometimes both barrels will fire, sometimes one, sometimes none.

I have hear the 512 was known to have soft hammers that eventually fail.
Any validity to the rumor?

It went back to the gun store under warranty but haven't heard anything back for almost 2 months.

You'll need to take that to a Gunsmith to do a trigger job on. Really, its the sears and the hammer notches that are not right, and maybe something to do with the cocking rids.

I would not use that to shoot, as it could be dangerous.
