Ok so I bought this side by side shotgun the other day. Well i attempted to clean it and got my self into mess. I took off the forend and oiled and clean it. Well at first i attempted to put everything back together i ran into an issue. The "knobs" that the forend goes into one is too far back and the forend cant slide on. Well I then relaized i could cock it and the forend would go back on but now the forend doesn't stay on at all it just falls right off. Please help. Sorry for and miss spellings and the for the term knob i don't know what it is called just trying to give a description. Thank you

Greetings brutus10, and welcome aboard.

It should be a simple matter of snapping the forearm back into place, unless you did something irregular. To remove the forearm, you pull down on the front and it unsnaps -- it's held in place by spring tension. If you removed a screw/s to remove the forearm and separated the wood from the forearm iron, then you need to reassemble the wood and iron and then snap it back into place.
I don't have any specifics on the 355 (It went out of production 80-years ago), but it cross references to the 311 and it crosses to the Fox Model B. I do have data on the Fox B. FYI: Stevens made the 355 and was purchased by Savage Arms. Savage also purchased Fox. Here's a scan of the Fox B forearm assembly, hopefully it will give you a hint of what's going on.
