Stevens 322 and Savage 325, 340, 342, etc.

What is the differences in these rifles, other than caliber? Like what is the difference between the 322, 322a, 322b, 322c, and the same thing with the 340a, b, c, d, e. ? And what is the differnce between all of them? They are all basciall the same rifle.
 
They are all bascially the same rifle.

Yes. There are some small cosmetic differences though. I like the older ones with the butterknife bolt. I think the 325 had one if I remember correctly.

I have a Stevens 62 semi-auto that I picked up several years ago in the used gun racks. Doing the research on the rifle, I learned that it's identical to the Savage 64. It seems that Savage marketed the rifle in Canada as a Stevens. How a Canadian rifle wound up in the used gun rack of a central Louisiana pawn shop is one of life's little mysteries.
