Stevens 311 a,b,c, ect.

Stevens 311

I have just got a stevens 311c. I found a 24t inside a small circle on the recever. what i'm asking is the difference between the 311a, 311c, 311h, could someone help with this

I have never heard or seen an explanation of the differences.

If you scroll down the left side of

www.gun-parts.com/savagestocks

to the Stevens stocks you'll see some of the different versions and a little advice on matching them to a gun. That's just about all I've ever run across.

T in circle is date code... A is 1949 no O or Q
It is around a '67 but no coffee yet...

Thanks men! I love the old 311's i'm working on getting a set 12,16,20,410. I would like to keep them all 311C I just wondered if there is anything magor difference between the 311c,to the 311a or the 311h.
 
I miss my old 311 16 Ga. It's one that got away before I learned! Gonna replace it when I find one!

The date code is a letter and number in an oval on the bottom of the receiver right behind the hinge. As stated earlier the letter is the code. There are minor differences between A and H. The forearm attachment is different for one thing. I don't know if barrels will interchange from A-H. I have an A made in 57.
