Anyone else see this show? Basically, Steven Seagal is a reservist for a small
department in Louisiana and rides around in an Explore with the Deputy Chief
of Police. Once the regular cops have the suspects in custody, Steven Seagal
walks up and explains why the are in trouble.

On tonight's episode the had range practice. Apparantly, headshota are the prefered method in this department. Anyway...... Steven Seagal actually shot pretty well on the REALLY close targets. He even outshot the department's range officer. Although, he did use a highendsemi-custom 1911 against their issued pistol.

FAIL; Steve Segal Dep Chief, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office...

This post is filled with false information. Steven Segal was ASKED to work with the sworn deputies of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office by the late Sheriff: Henry Lee(a highly respected sworn LE offical nationwide).
Seagal is a fully sworn reserve deputy chief. He works with & trains LEOs to SAVE LIVES and to protect themselves on the dangerous streets of metro New Orleans.
This area was hit hard by Katrina and the recent BP/Deep Horizon oil spill.
Steven Seagal isn't perfect(there was a recent scandal with a former female assistant) but he is a real law enforcement officer. I contacted Col John Fortano(check spelling) the PAO(public affairs office) supervisor several weeks ago and he confirmed that Dep Chief Seagal is still a fully sworn reserve officer.
If you go to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office website, you can see the REAL agency and contact them yourself.

;)

Yes, I watch the show. There have been a number of episodes where firearms training was a part. He's used different guns and does fine with all of them. I'd say there's a minimum of showing off-- with more emphasis on teaching other members of his team to survive on the street. And frankly, if you've seen them shoot, they need the training.:D

I remember going to the theater to see the movie "Executive Decision" for the sole purpose of seeing Steven Seagal die. He is the most arrogant movie star ever. And that's saying a lot. The gap between how smart he is and how smart he thinks he is is huge.

But back to guns. He uses tricked out target pistols while shooting beside guys with regular duty pistols. Those cops on that show have a tremendous amount of self-control keeping a straight face while this guy explains things to them.

Not a fan, sorry...

I occasionally work out with some guys from LA who fly out east for MA seminars. A couple do movie stunt work. Seagal doesn't have a good reputation with these guys; bangs them up more than he needs to, in choreographed encounters. From their accounts, the perception of the man as smug, self-centered jerk is spot on.

For a good laugh, do a search for Steven Seagal vs Judo Gene LeBell. (That match-up was a result of a near-70 year old LeBell taking exception with Seagal's treatment of LeBell's stunt guys.)
