Stembridge Gun Rentals

When they went out of business - I thought the inventory went to a private collector.

Am I wrong?

Just asking, because on DARK ANGEL I just noticed that one of those FN P90s the "badguys" carried had a magazine sticking out the bottom... Meaning it was one of Stembridges dressed up Mac-10s.

Interesting.

I didn't know Stembridge went under! When did this happen, George? Man, Stembridge has been around since what, the 1920s or something like that? How'd you like to have been at that sale?

I heard from a Title II friend that he'd moved to British Columbia a year or two ago, but don't know where his inventory ended up--
Anybody know?
The scuttlebutt was to escape the growing hassle from ATF/Kalifornika...???

If he moved to B.C. it more likely had to do with the fact that a lot of television and film productions are shooting up in Canada now. So much so that it would be unprofitable to run a prop house in L.A..

I believe that all the equipment from Stembridge went under the auction block last year. I know that Long Mountain Outfitters has a variety of ex-Stembridge FAs and DDs for sale.

Yes, they did indeed go under.

fal308 has it right. I thought that long Mountain got all of Stembridge's stuff as the exclusive liquidator.

There was something about it in SAR last year.

Yes, Stembridge did close up shop and sell off their guns. My understanding is that California law was going to change and prevent them from selling their inventory even out of state. They had millions worth of guns and did not want to get stuck with no way to get money out for Mr. Stembridges retirement.

George H.,
Stembridge unfortunately went under a couple of years ago.
From some of the guys that used to work there...they decided to split up the sections by inheritors (i.e. Civil War weapons,World War II, etc...
As is typical, some wanted to keep in the business, others wanted to get rid of their guns, etc..
Too bad TFL'ers, it would have been your best dream and then some to take a tour of the Stembridge facilities...then some of you would have cried to see how some of the guns just lay around.
My bud was looking for a Sharps .50 with all the bells and whistles, so I called up one of my friends there and we got a tour by one of the inheritors...there were over 80 of them in a barrel next to a couple of shelves full of the. 50 Sharps carbine. And that's only one type of gun.
You could find fully functional weapons that you wouldn't find normally...in wherehouse after wherehouse after wherehouse.
Anyway, I need to call my friend up, but I'm sure that some of the inheritors sold their collection and it probably did go to B.C., since they seem to be doing more action movies than we are.
Isn't that ironic?
