Hey all, I'm looking at steel scope rings for two rifle platforms and want some sub $100 scope rings that will serve One single purpose in life: Keep my zero NO MATTER WHAT. I'm currently looking at TPS's TSR "W" scope rings and Lupold's Mark-4 scope rings. I'll be mounting a zeiss conquest 3-9x40 on a savage .270 and a soon-to-be owned bushnell trophy (same variable zoom/objective) xlt on an also soon-to-be owned savage 93 .17 HMR. want med. to low rings and want em to be rugged. Any knowledge on steel scope rings is open season. Suggestions? comments? conscerns? I'm an *****? Lets hear it...

Steel, heavy duty, under $100? Other than those you've already looked at... Warne Maximas are about all I can think of.

steel rings

alright I'm looking for info on the two rings stated above specifically, however am flexible to other brands as long as the reccomendations are from owner testimonials. Is one more dependable then the other? Thank you creeper for the input.

Most of my rifles have the Burris Signature rings with the polymer inserts, and they have always been trouble free. The inserts provide full contact with the scope and protect the scope from ring damage, and align the scope with the bore. Been using them for years, even on the magnums, and the zero has never changed - unless it was by me.

I have two sets of the TPS rings, but not the "W" (Weaver) style. I will never buy anything else. Both are on AR-15 platforms and I have zero gripes. I say they are a good value for your parameters.

STEEL rings...

Good to know Lunk, I'm having trouble with the company (TPS) right now...don't know if its due to my end (in Afghanistan) or on their part. Their website has some problems when it comes to accessing some parts of it and I've called them a couple times with no answer....sat on hold for too long. I hate that spit. I guess what my objective is, is to have confidance that if I go out hunting and slip or fall, drop the weapon(s) I want to not have that nagging thought of "man I hope I kept my zero..." Ive had to re-zero out in the deer woods and it pains me to fire off a boom in my beloved hunting area, as I'm sure it would pain of you. Oh, off the wall here but would anyone know if I will clear a 3-9x 40 conquest on low TSR rings ona savage .270...??? I've done my homewor and resultd are all over. some yes, some no, and of course the "bring your rifle to the store and try it out" line too. In a perfect world yes, I would love to do that but want to take advantage of TPS's deployed soldier discount and dont have my Savage or scope with me here.
