One good reason that comes to mind is to help stop top strap cut. Over time when the gases escape from the cylinder to barrel gap it will cut the frame. Thats one way you can tell if the gun was shot alot.
The Ruger bearcat has a aluminum frame. But it's only a 22lr
I assume you are talking about the grip frame? I have a superblackhawk steel grip frame on my 6.5 inch 41 mag blackhawk and it is a big improvement. the main reason is that there is more to hang on to and I think it points better
Sorry, I did mean Grip Frame. I'm sure my Blackhawk will out last me, but I might show around for one with a steel frame. I understand the Stainless Steel is all steel.
