Steel-cased, corrosive ammo in entry level AR?

Prices on entry level ARs are getting close to my justification level. My first AR will be for paper and plinking only. I am a big fan of cheap steel cased ammo, in bulk. Which entry level ARs will not have problems with it? I see DPMS, Bushmaster, Olympic,...etc. getting close to affordable. I don't mind a little extra cleaning for corrosive stuff. I guess a chrome lined barrel will be a plus. Also, I won't be shooting out past 200yds. Any suggestions welcomed.

As long as you're cleaning it's a non-issue. I don't generally see too much corrosive ammo in .223/5.56 anyways... it's usually 7.62x39 stuff.

Wolf isn't corrosive.

If you are shooting corrosive, a good dousing with water should wash away the corrosive salts. Take your hose and spray the gun down. Concentrate on the inside... chamber/barrel/bolt.... Use an air compressor to blow it out and dry it off, then clean as normal.

Ditto...I don't think I've ever seen corrosive 5.56. Maybe Arsenal in Russia, not sure.
As said, you'll find it in 7.62 x39 and 5.45 x 39...

Steel cased and corrosive are not synonymous. You can get steel cased non corrosive 5.56/.223 for stupid cheap.

make sure your bolt/firing pin are "modified" to be able to reliably ignite surplus primers. Alot of the cheap steel cased ammo have harder primers. Also you might want to look into a stronger extractor spring, as steel cased ammo usually has problems ejecting in AR's

I have a Bushmaster Dissipator and a Bushmaster lower w/RRA upper and have never had a problem shooting thousands of rnds of Wolf steel cased ammo.

No AR 15 rifle made by a decent maker needs the bolt/firing pin "modified" to be able to reliably ignite surplus primers.

If it fails to ignite surplus ammo primers or steel case ammo primers you have a defective AR.

Thanks for the responses. I shoot plenty of corrosive 5.45x39 and 7.62x54R. I guess I use the theory if it's foreign bulk steel, it's probably mildly corrosive...at least. I could be wrong, but it doesn't take much more time cleaning to be safe. I guess I'm wondering if firing steel-cased ammo will void a warranty on a new AR. Sounds like I got a first hand +1 for Bushmaster eating up steel cased ammo. How about DPMS or Olympic steel eaters...or any other entry level ARs.

I only fire steel case ammo in my M&P; never had any issues. I've never seen corrosive 5.56 ammo though...?

Most of the new production foreign ammo say non corrosive on the box. Brown Bear, Tulammo, Wolf, etc. I was under the impression that the corrosive stuff was surplus military manufactured before the mid 80's. I shoot Brown Bear, Tulammo, Wolf in my Stag AR. Well over 1000 rounds without a hiccup. Just ordered 7.62x54R surplus for my Nagant and it IS corrosive. The Brown Bear new production in the same caliber is marked non-corrosive. Same with my friend's AK 7.62x39. Either way, I clean my rifles immediately after the range anyhow.
