Steel cased ammo and IDPA

Maybe 00 doesn't and I don't, but there are people who do.
It shoots ok, costs less. What's not to like, especially if you are not a handloader?

steel

DNS- I was just wondering. I've never shot IPDA, shooting my first match soon. I've shot some steel cased but mostly stick to WWB. Just didn't know with the price of it if many people shot it during matches. Thanks

I'd say WWB, Blazer Brass, Federal Champion, and American Eagle are the ammo that I've seen the most at matches around here.

People who shoot action/practical matches alot end up reloading their own, usually, and steel case ammo is not generally reloadable.

If your gun shoots it reliably, go for it.

Yes you don't see it alot, but there is nothing wrong with it. The choice to reload is an individual one and not everyone makes it. There is nothing wrong with running steel cases if it saves you some cash.

Well there is something wrong with it. And yes, everyone else in shooting sports on this forum is to wimpy here to say it. That fact is that although we can separate your crap with a big magnet, you still pollute our casings with unloadable crap that uses up our time and effort to remove and dispose of it.

The majority of practical shooters in IPSC or IPDA reload, and folks like you just pollute the pool of casings we collect and split among us at the end of the day before we all go for beers. You are evil :p

steel cased ammo

The rim thickness on steel cased ammo can vary a lot.

Depending upon what kind of gun you're using, that can put a lot of pressure on the extractor claw and cause it to fail. Eventually.

I went through LFI Advanced Handgun Skills back in 2000 using a nearly new Sig 226 in 9mm. I shot Wolf steel cased ammo as an experiment. The bottom corner of the extractor cracked right about the time I finished the 1000 rnd case.

However, I know guys who have run lots of steel cased 9mm through various models of Glock without a problem.
