State Secession Laws

Recently, two states posted laws stating that they will secede from the USA if martial law is declared.

Does anyone have the links?

I was under the impression that only the state of Texas had the constitutional right to suceed, and then not becoming an indepentant country, but 7 (I think) states, each with senators and congressmen in the house and senate. In short, they (we!) could rule the U.S and return it to a constitutional democracy, as opposed to the socialist state that it will be if Gore is elected.

There is no defined process in the constitution for a state to enter or leave the union. Texas has writen into their anexation treaty that they may at their chosing subdivide into no more tha 7 states. Any state can seceed from the union by a act of congress.

The Arizona bill died in committee.

Actually, Denfoote, I just waded through the Az. legis. status board, and, according to it, HCR2034 has passed "second reading" and
its status as of this p.m. is "retained on calendar so I guess there may be hope, yet.
