STATE OF JEFFERSON? WTF?

Having just come back from the State of Jefferson I can tell you they are serious . They are ignored up there except when it's tax time . They want more say about their Government . The main complaint is that the Cities determine policy and everyone must adhere .
This is pretty much the problem in much of rural Kalifornia . They are about one click away from The Posse Commitatus . Which is pretty cool in principle . I would like to see it happen just so they can control their destiny rather than some person in L.A. or Frisco .
BTW there is very little work up there . If you go ....bring a job .There was a commercial on T.V. for Harry and David , a catalogue company . They needed a slew of help and were paying $7.25 an hour . That's in Medford Oregon . About 50 miles north of Yreka . It seems that if you're not on a road crew you're starving for the most part .I wish them luck .

For a couple of years the city of New Orleans has wanted to create their own state. The cities tax revenue far exceeds their return on a state level.
Hell, if I thought the yankee government wouldn't object I'd secede from the union myself and call my little place in the Missouri sticks the State of Gunslinger.
Who can blame anyone with thoughts of secession after what we have had the last eight years in Washington.

I grew up in the State of Jefferson. Still live on the fringes of it now. It's most of the northern counties of CA and a couple of the southern counties of OR. Were an independent breed of old style westerners. The problem has been that on all the props in the state, all the gun control laws and everything else the northern states vote three to one against the liberal crap and yet they always pass due to the vast majority of votes from LA & San Fran.

We are being held hostage by these people. We have no say in our government, as in CA the majority rules.

I know of a few other Counties who would also like to get out such as Fresno. Will it ever happen? I doubt it. We've been trying over my whole life of 50 years.

The debate is not about guns,
but rather who has the ultimate power to rule,
the People or Government.

Sorry, forgot to answer your other questions... on the RKBA... Vermont style. No restrictions. NO taxes what so ever... the northern part of the state controls the water rights... We'll just sell the water to So. CA instead of them stealing it as they are now. That is the main reason they would never let us go. They are afraid of loosing the water to fill their pools.

Sounds like you got leverage then.

"Look - you bungholes give us freedom and we will sell you the water you need.
If you dont - we'll damn the water - or spike it. We may just flat out poison it... redirect it to the pacific... What ever - because you aint getting any FRESH water from this direction.
And if you call out the Guard... You will have a shooting war on your hands."

Take this seriously - make them take it seriously - or you'll never get anything other than odd looks. If you guys need help - I'll PERSONALLY be on my way.

Northern rural CA may as well be in a different state than any part of Kali south of Frisco, thats why I live here. Spent most my life south of the great divide and have no intention of going back, not for double my income.

We, the people of the "free" state of Arizona are more than a little willing to secede. There is a movement here to do just that.
There is a similar one afoot in Texas.
We get nothing from the feds, and they keep stealing more of our public lands in order to tax us (the public) for using it.

We ain't free enough yet, and really want to be shed of the Feds.

The state of Jefferson would have a trade ally here, and if they elect to become a Sovereign nation, so much the better.
We could catch the Kalifornians in a pincers movement, and squeeze the shi... er, ah, liberalism right out of them. :D

If we could get all of these seperatist movements to actually come into being then they could form their own OPEC. Call it OFEC, the Organisation of Freedom Exporting Countries. All sorts of possibilities there.

It never hurts to dream. :)

I like the idea,too.
Either that or rename southern Cal the State of Confusion. ;)

A few years ago(5 or 6) the Texas Panhandle,Southwest Kansas, and the Oklahoma panhandle, were talking about starting a new state.

With our oil and gas and agriculture it would be a rich state.
