State land to shoot at near Deland-Deltona FL?

Indoor ranges are so expensive out here.. Nearest outdoor range in Daytona Beach only lets you use paper targets.

Very frustrated looking for some light at the end of the tunnel. Anyone here familiar with my neck of the swamp?
 
Join the Volusia County Gun and Hunt club on SR44. They are 5 miles east of the fair grounds. There are 7-8 tactical bays for rifle, handgun, or shotgun, 300 meter rifle range, various tactical type shooting matches including IDPA, CFDCC, IPSC, and USPSA, and a long range club that holds shoots out to 1,000 meters for members that pass qualification.
 
$75 dollars for an application fee?
$300 per person?
Need to be a member of the NRA? More fees in that...


No thanks. As stated in original post. Looking for a place to shoot for free.
 
If I recall my Florida geography correctly, you should be in the vicinity of Ocala national forest. You could call the forest service or check the website and see if any of it is open to target shooting.
 
Sig, Ocala is about an hours drive. They have a place to shoot but haven't checked it out yet. Might do it this weekend actually.

Was hoping for something more local. We can all dream can't we? :)
