Starting to get the itch

I have not bought a firearm, or even any accessories besides a couple sets of grips, in almost five months now. I am starting to get the itch to buy something. Funds are limited so I have to really think about what I want to spend a little money on.

The problem is I cannot think of anything I want. Should I find a nice pistol? Should I buy a couple nice holsters and maybe a new gunbelt? I have even thought about taking my Colt Officer's model and having nicer sights put on it.

Any suggestions or advice?

yes

Start buying ammo, and shooting it from your 'collection'.

It will become more satisfying as you improve your shooting skills (for real fun, visit a USPSA match. For even more fun, if one's ego can adapt, compete).

That's my most serious advice.

I know what you mean PbP. I am in the same situation.

I am leaning towards a .22lr for plinking at the range.

Or maybe something in .40, just so I can use the box of Blazer Brass ammo I found in my bedroom.

Decisions, decisions...

I am going to keep an eye on this thread in the hopes of getting some ideas.

real music

Did you consider actually shooting more, using those spare funds to finance that activity?

I own a piano, too, but......

Hey PP, how about a class III? I know, expensive and all but you'll get your money back if you sell it and...there's nothing like a FA firearm.

You'd just have to sell some of your inventory that you're not using. ;)

Having more guns than I will shoot nowadays, and having ammo stacked knee-deep in a closet, and with multiple holsters/accesories, I have started fancying up some of my guns, sending them off to get engraved, for example.

Hey PP, how about a class III?
Full autos just do not interest me at all. They can be fun to shoot, if someone else is paying for the ammo, but beyond that I fail to see the appeal. A short barrel shotgun is interesting though. :)

I'm in much the same quandary, PBP! I can't think of anything that I really want at the moment! Like you, my funds are kind of tight right now (plus another tailgunner6 is on the way!!) so I'm going to avoid perusing GunBroker and AuctionArms for a while... a long while! Maybe, if I get a windfall later this year, I might go for one of the new Colts, like the Delta Elite or Combat Elite.

I need a smith 41, just because it is a fun shooter. Just haven't pulled the trigger on one yet.

I almost bought the springer 1911 in 9mm last week at a gun show but didn't, only because it looks just like my springer in .45. I do want a 1911 in 9mm.

A rifle in either .357 or 45colt. Just can't find the one I want.

Maybe a Colt Anaconda.

Another 1911 or two, or three. Gotta be a little bit unique however, or something that catches my eye with that, "I gotta own that" feeling.

My gun fund is overflowing, my ammo/reloading stockpile is great, so, it is just a matter of pulling the trigger..........................

Do you have a Marlin 336?
I am not much into long guns, but... :)

Wouldn't that be a tailgunner6.1?

Actually PBP, he/she (we'll find out soon...) would be tailgunner6.2 ;)

We already have little Ms. tailgunner6.1 who shoots my Beretta 87 in single shot mode in the basement with Aguila Super Colibris.

Got to bring 'em up right you know ;)

For you, sir? Ammunition, and lots of it.

For firearms, correct me if I'm mistaken but I don't think you have a fine Python in your safe. You have some very nice revolvers and semis with beautiful grips in your collection but no Pythons. If I were you I'd save up about $1600 and make sure I found a pristine specimen.

Beyond another handgun, I think a nice bolt-action rifle or a nice over-under shotgun would be worth your attention.

I don't know what all that you have in your collection. However, I do know from the threads you have posted, you like stainless steel handguns. With that said, have you looked into a Sig P229 elite stainless. I know that fundage would require you to sell plasma but it is one awesome looking pistol!!! It looks like it will be the latter part of 2009 before I will have the fundage to purchase one myself. Right now I am saving for a xd40 subcompact. But after I get the subcompact...I am going for the Sig!!!
