Starting back reloading... Quick die question

Ok so I just switched to a LNL last "winter" (Florida winter:confused:) and decided its cool enough to head to the garage again.

I'm embarrassed to asked, but I cant figure out what the long die it? It seems like its my 9mm FCD and maybe a long FCD?

The short die has a threaded top but the longer one doesn't. When I tested it (longer one), it seems like it takes the bell out so has to be a universal crimp?

ETA: sorry I took the pics with the LNL sleeve still on one

No stem in the top? Looks like seating and crimping. It would have an adjustment in the top for seating depth and adjusts crimp by moving the whole die.

The shorter one seems to be the FCD (plunger is out in the picture) and my seating die is still in the press so its not that.

The longer die seems new so I don't know why I would have bought it last season

Cervi is referring to the E5 at the end. If you look at the Lee instructions for their 4-die set, the image at the lower left, under the circled number 5, you can just make out it shows the E5 is at the end. It is also the only die in that set that has that has the same height of knurled thumb grip area at the top that your photo shows. It is, indeed, the seater die, albeit absent the seater stem in your case.

So I don't know what die is still in your press, unless you got two of them.

One was the FCD and the other was a separate taper crimp die, the confusion was the separate taper crimp die that didn't come with the set.

Apparently I bought it the taper to keep the cast from getting swaged down which the FCD was doing if I remember correctly

Yeah, they are famous for that. Good move.
