Starline brass

I purchased some 45acp Starline brass and loaded up some with 4.0gr BE and some with 5.2gr Win 231. I loaded them with my Dillon 650 press and using Presion's 200gr coated swc bullets. The issue I'm having is with my DW not cycling them, they were very accurate but I had to eject each round and chamber each one, I've used this load before with range brass and never had a problem, the only difference was the new Starline brass. I would think it would of been the other way around having issues with range brass not new brass, has anyone else had issues with Starline brass?

I never had any issues with Starline brass and I have a bunch of it. Of course that doesn't mean there are no issues, just that I haven't.

Your 4.0 gr BE86 load seems anemic to me.

Usually when a semi won't cycle ammo, the load isn't strong enough.

I don't know why the 231 load won't.

Is the gun clean??

My Colt 1911 and my Glock both cycle 200 gr lswc with 4.0 of bullseye.
Mayb you need a lighter spring weight ?

If your 4g load was borderline with lower capacity brass, and you switch to the Starline which IME is higher capacity (grain of H20) than some other kinds of brass, then you might need to up your load a few 10ths of a grain to get the pressure needed to cycle your DW reliably.

Check OAL of your handloads. Make sure to five it a light roll crimp.

I had some 45 that i made up with a lee mold.225 grain ball and didnt seat them deep enough using 5 gr. Of bulls eye. Gun would not cycle .. seat them to 1.230 and problem went away

This load is a wonderfully accurate load still used in Bullseye Pistol Competition. However, Bullseye shooters are using 13 lb recoil springs. If you are using a standard 16 recoil spring than this load might be functionally marginal.

Bump up the load or install a lighter recoil spring for these light loads.
