I ran across an advertisement in Shotgun News for Star Model A Pistols for $49.95. The description reads,"these may be missing minor parts, may require fitting and/or gunsmithing and headspacing work."

I know nothing about these guns, but was wondering if they would be worth the money for a project gun? Since it has the appearance of a 1911, would standard 1911 parts work? Thanks for your help.
 
These are 1911 pattern guns, but the parts are NOT interchangeable.

A couple of guys on the Curio & Relics list bought the "fixable" frames and got almost complete guns. They were VERY satisfied with their purchases, and were looking for parts, like grips... which can be found. But these guys really KNOW their C&R guns.

With a C&R license, you can buy the complete guns in very good shape, with only holster wear, for around $200. They're considered very nice guns. I've got one on order, but am paying a bit more.
