Star Firestar M43 YouTube part repair videos -Wanted

As a Firestar M43 owner , I noticed that there are not any repair/part replacement videos at YouTube ( for example extractor replacement ,etc).
I stumbled upon two Firestar M43 frame complete disassembly/ assembly videos in spanish , but they were in poor picture quality and did not include slide components .

There is a talent in this forum , members with good gunsmithing skills . And there are dummies (like myself ) who screw up things when they try the fist time.

I am asking to those who are skilled in gunsmithing to do some youtube videos on various aspect of Firestar repair/ part replacement (like ,extractor replacement , how to replace firing pin without springs flying around, etc.).

IF there are already these type youtube videos in existance (that I had missed during my search) , I would appreciate if you point out links to those . Thank you all.
Shoot safe ,
regards,

Good luck with this. Star has long been out of business and spare parts for the M43 have all but dried up. I can't see much interest out there for videos showing how to repair a pistol that you essentially can't repair for lack of parts.

That said, a friend of mine has an M43, and it really is a nice little pistol that has a great trigger and shoots very well. It's a shame Star went out of business.

Exactly what parts to you expect to wear out?
Springs don't wear out, nor do the steel components. Firing pins are available.
Small parts could be made by any competent gunsmith.
I have 100+ year old guns that work just fine, and I don't expect any parts to wear out any time soon.

Years ago I had a Firestar M45. It was a really nice pistol but it broke the slide stop. The slide stop is not simple like on most guns. Having one made would be a stretch. I was lucky enough to round up a spare one through a guy who use to work for interarms. I also got an extractor for a friend who had a Firestar M40 from the same guy. Now a days parts really are a problem

About the only part that goes astray in the Firestars is the extractor, which is made of unobtainium. The few times I've heard of the extractor problem it's been the .40 version, and even that isn't common.

On some forums members there have contacts with folks in Spain who make hard-to-find parts or have access to "new-old-stock." Going to some of the Spanish gun forums might help.

SARCO is your best friend if you have a STAR.

Followed by Jack First & Numrich. Remember, with Jack's
you need to CALL if you don't see it, they're really slow to
put stuff up on their website, so often they've actually got
the parts you need IF YOU CALL!!

BOB's :) Love this guy...he's old, slow, and occasionally cantankerous,
but that's your typical old phart veteran :D
This is another one it's best to CALL...and BE NICE!!
And patient...very patient ;)

And of course, the best thing is two have TWO of each gun,
so if something goes awry, you're covered :D

And while I'm at it...

OMG!! MY EXTRACTOR BROKE!!

What do you do??

Go to your local metalworker or gunsmith...
have 'em weld some metal back onto it, file it
to the proper shape and fitment, heat treat it,
and you're up and running again!!

While yer at it, have 'em make a fitted spare or two!!

Filing it to the proper shape is arguably the hardest part, especially if the broken part(s) "disappeared" when the breakage occurred.

Not every home gunsmith is up to finding a good welder, filing, fitting, and heat treating a fabricated extractor; a lot of gunsmiths may not be, either. And even if a local gunsmith (someone who lives within 100 driving miles) CAN do some or all of that, he might not be willing to do it for a price the owner is willing to pay.

The average knife maker usually has everything needed ;)
Precision files, welding, heat treating, oil quench...etc...

Always good to know a few SCA & RenFaire types!!
Or just bribe Bill DeShivs to make what you need ;)
