Stainless Steel !!

Awesome story and it proves there are still good people in the gun industry.

So very true... I like Ruger revolvers, already, and crap like this makes me look harder at the rest of their lineup when time comes for new toys. Good on them!

Great story!

This was indeed a great story. It played out well considering the potential legal entanglements. In my home state, I would first have to report the loss to the local police where the loss occurred, then bring the police report to the license section of my own police department. They would then decide whether or not to revoke my permit entirely, confiscating the remaining guns on my license. Then, in my excitment in finding the gun, I might have brought it back to my own police department where I would have then been cuffed and booked for possession of an unregistered handgun.

That pistol really held up well for being on the forest ground for 8 years. Really, just the wood grips and the carbon steel sights posed any real problem. I bet it would still shoot fine.

Yeah, that's my experience.

I own several Ruger's and the CS from Ruger is nothing less than outstanding. For those of you that have not owned a Ruger, don't worry about the written warranty Ruger gives.....it doesn't matter, they simply stand behind their product. They will not even ask you about warranty, year of manufacture or such, they will just fix the problem.....period.

Ruger does CS like it's supposed to be done!

I am so glad that the death of Bill Ruger Sr in 2002 and the 'retirement' of Bill Jr in 2006 allowed the company to become pro-gun. It use to be the biggest anti-gun gun company around. Now they actually support us.

I only have two Rugers, a Blackhawk 45 Colt I bought new in 1971 and a SS Redhawk 41 Mag I bought new about 1985. Never had to use the customer service. I did, over a period of time receive 3 different boxes to send the Blackhawk back for the transfer bar refit. Never did though. Great story and it is good to know the CS is available.
Did buy some Ruger stock a couple of months ago. Betting the SR1911 would sell big.

Another example of Ruger's excellent customer service. It's also an extreme example of why I like stainless steel in a working gun; it resists corrosion much better than blued steel.

And as a note to Gerry, I suggest a holster with a hammer loop, retention strap, or thumb break.
