hello, my father in law wants a stage coach 12 ga for christmas. I dont want to spend more than 300.00 dollars. He wants the shortest barrels possible. it will be used very little just for plinking fun. any sugestion would be appreciated.
 
That would be the Stoeger Coach Gun. I owned a 24" barrel 20 gauge Uplander, same gun as the Coach but with longer barrels. Extractors only, no-frills, 7 lbs. As long as no one's looking for a lightweight work of art, it's very serviceable. More popular with cowboy-action shooters and home defense shooters.
Come to think of it, Baikal makes a rabbit-eared gun for around $250 if he wants the true stagecoach look.
 
You should be able to find a Remington Spartan coachgun for less than that.
Not fancy, but durable.
